UPPING THE STAKES: GAME-DAY TAKEOUT TIPS

How to add a competitive edge to your next tailgating event

BY: MACKENZIE GOODMAN | JANUARY 2019

Do regular tailgating parties leave you feeling unfulfilled? Have you ever been told that you’re a little too competitive? Do people regularly remind you that winning isn’t everything, even though you know it is?

Next game day, place your bets on the winning team, order some tailgate-ready takeout, and try one (or all) of these food-inspired games during halftime.

Takeout Tips Sapporo Cheers

1. First, start things off with a friendly toast for good luck. Use this moment to remind your fellow partygoers why they love you, then crush them when they’re not expecting it. Do it nicely, of course. You want to be invited to the next party.

Takeout Tips Fortune Cookies

2. Forget wishbones; it’s time for wishcookies. Have two people grab either end of a fortune cookie and snap. Whoever gets the bigger half wins the remaining cookies and all the good fortune.

Takeout Tips Chopsticks

3. Next, compare chopstick skills. Who can pick up the most noodles in one go? Whose fingers are strong enough to balance a dumpling the longest? It’s you (obviously), but maybe someone else will rise to the challenge.

Takeout Tips Lo Mein

Remember, those attempting to use tongs will be disqualified for cheating. Rules are rules.

Takeout Tips Sapporo Cap

4. Did someone finish off all the Lettuce Wraps? Flip a bottle cap and make the loser run out for more. Best out of three wins.

Tally up all the points and bestow upon the winner the coveted final egg roll. If, by some chance, you’re not the winner, try hard to take the defeat with grace, then suggest round two on the next game day. You’ll definitely get ‘em next time. You always do.
